Just to make things clearer:
Originally ProfROM was created for and used solely in Scorpion machines.
Some time after ZX Evo has appeared, savelij ported ProfROM to ZX Evo, making changes to some vital parts like hdd driver and page switcher (probably).
Now, at least for me, ProfROM looks like some nice artefact of the past. I haven't ever had a thought to use it (unlike Gluk ROM which I use as frequently as ERS).
So the only developer that have any expertise in ProfROM is indeed savelij.

I have read all 3 parts of the IS-DOS article from the Info Guide #11 which is about low level programming details.

However, for the second part of the article I am writing, I am more interested in user level usage of IS-DOS. User commands, how to start a command or program, how to load a resident program/driver, which ones are available.

I found the "skatchaty" (download) link on http://atmturbo.nedopc.com and its "Софт для OS iS-DOS/TASiS для ATM" section and there "OS TASiS v5.40/distr. v1.04" and "OS iS-DOS Chic v5.01/distr. v1.00" are the IS-DOS disks, I suppose.
I tried loading each via the RAM-disk which succeeded, as I get the (C) Sinclair Reseach Ltd message instead of a garbled screen, so it's no longer crashing. But what can I do with it now?

http://speccy.info/IS-DOS contains references to Russian literature about IS-DOS - are these available somewhere in PDF? Preferable as non copy protected ones, so I can copy&paste them into translate.google.com...

Please tell me about errors :)

Here's this part:
Loading IS-DOS from hard drive
Starting with version 0.54b added loader IS-DOS to Service menu. Loader code copied from ROM of
russian clone KAY without any changes. Loader require only harddrive plugged via Nemo IDE interface and
not depend from architecture of computer. Loaded data from harddrives IS-DOS bootsector must correspond to
architecture of computer.

So, can't I load the IS-DOS Chic or TASIS FDI disks from the atmturbo.nedopc.com page into RAM-disk and run from the floppy image?
How can I prepare the harddisk for IS-DOS usage? Do I need to flash the latest ATM BIOS or xBIOS (that are said to be ZX Evo compatible) to actually use IS-DOS?

Thanks in advance.

ATM Turbo has another IDE controller than on ZXEVO. So you not need to flash another bios in ZXEVO.
Necessary using IDE driver from classic ISDOS distributive (NEMO-IDE).

OK, so the question still stands.
1. Which IS-DOS distribution disk (floppy image) is usable with ZX Evo? Download link please.
2. If no such disk image exists, how can I prepare the harddisk to make it usable with the "IS-DOS boot" service menu?

Another question. The CP/M disk can be used with the Evo, I can load it ro RAM-disk and boot it. "DIR" command works, FDISK recognized my SSD. What are the limitations of the CP/M FDISK regarding disk size, i.e. C/H/S parameters? Can CP/M use LBA?

Thanks in advance.

1. So I try floppy ISDOS's distributives tomorrow.
2. IsDos hat itself fat format, not compatible with FAT16/FAT32. Preparing drive procedure is not simple.
Maxim Timonin prepare documentation about IsDos. If documentation will ready then I translate it.

CP/M can't use LBA only CHS (may be anybody patched it - I don't know).
But Savelij try to include MSXDOS to ZXEVO ROM (MSXDOS compatible with FAT32 and partially compatible with CP/M).
You can request Savelij about new ROM with MSXDOS for beta-testing.

Any news?

Regardng the IS-DOS FAT filesystem: is it FAT12, i.e. the one used on MS-DOS floppies? That would limit the harddisk partition size to about 20MB. It was a long time ago I used such a small disk with MS-DOS. :)

CHRV said 'fat' but he just meant that ISDOS has its own filesystem, incompatible with any FAT.
