fat32 and fat16 hard drive issues

ZX evolution software and hardware

Postby justine » 25 Jul 2011, 12:55

I have a revision B Evo and i have tried several hard drives ranging from a 40Gb to a 80Gb . I even tried splitting the hard drives up into smaller partitions using fat32 and fat16 but i still have the same problems when using WDC 1.3 final .
The Evo can read the hard drive folders and files i put there with my windows pc no problem, but if i use wdc 1.3 final with the Nemo driver and say i try to rename a folder called "jms" to "jms-test" then WDC shows the folder as a garbage name and so does the Evo when reading it.
The same happens if i try to create a new folder as what i type isnt what appears to WDC or the Evo .

Can someone please help me ?

Just tried Fatall but when i create a new folder on the fat32 partition in does not display the name i typed. If i make a folder called JMS it shows and so does the evo fatboot shows JOSb .
What am i doing wrong because if i write the folder to the hard drive with my windows pc the evo and Fatall read it no problem ?

Not sure howto make a screenshot on the Evo , but just icase i have things wrong can you tell me the maximum fat16 and fat32 partition size as i have 1 x 80Gb hard drive with 2 fat32 40Gb partitions.
The Evo reads what folders were written by windows , and so does WDC and Fatall , its just when i create a new folder or try to rename an existing folder that the folder names become corrupted.
I am using the latest rom from souce and the latest avr - current if that helps and the clock is set to 14 Mhz.

Попробуй выставлять частоту не выше 7 MHz. Fatall не проверялся при 14 MHz :(

А на вновь отформатированный раздел тоже проблемы с созданием/переименованием папок?

yes both partitions have the same problem. Windows can write folder names and Evo / Fatall / WDC can read but if i try to rename or create a new one then they are corrupted.
I have tried 2 hard drives with 2 x fat32 40Gb partitions.
